Pura Vida en Puerto Viejo
I am sitting on the beach of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica, on top of my Brazilian beach towel as the sunset is starting.

A Caribbean band starts playing reggae songs in Spanish and the local people at the beach start ordering beers. The street dogs try to sit close to the people on the beach for some good company and kids are playing soccer on the beach while the sun is disappearing smoothly. The other foreigners around me who are still sitting on the beach seem to be in trance.
The sunset, the reggea music, the sound of the waves hitting the beach, the dogs, it all gives this amazing relaxed Caribbean vibe.
Welcome to Puerto Viejo. Pura Vida.
About Renate Rigters
Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
