Karlskrona guided boat trip – Hop-on Hop-off

A visit to Karlskrona
In Karlskrona the Swedish summer is all it needs to be.
Flowers everywhere, the grass is green, people are eating ice cream outside, a barbecue on the beach of a little island, enjoying a drink or two on the terrace and lots of locals taking their boat for a trip.
Hop on and hop off
What if you come to Sweden as a tourist and you want to take a boat ride? I went to Karlskrona and wanted to see the town from the waterside. I am very lucky to know people with boats, but some areas are easier to be seen from touristic boats. There is one boat called M / F Annaskär that serves as a Hop-on Hop-off transport for anyone in Karlskrona. Perfect for some sightseeing!

The M / F Annaskär.

Departure from Fisktorget
The boat leaves from Fisktorget in Karlskrona at several times. Below you can find the departure times:
10:00 – 11:10 – 12:15 – 13:55 – 15:00 – 16:10 – 17:00
There is a bar on board and an audio-guide that works through a headphone. It’s a tape that repeats itself when you pass the same destination twice. It’s pretty handy. It allows you to listen to guidance in English, Swedish, German and Polish.

The longest building in Sweden. Made for creating ropes.

Brändaholm and other stops
The boat leaves from Fisktorget and takes you to several stops where you can hop off or on. One of them is called Brändaholm. It is an island full of typically Swedish wooden red houses. The audio guide mentions that you can only live there or buy a house if you’re from Karlskrona and that you must keep the house in the original style. That’s how they try to preserve its charming character.

What does it cost?
For 85 Swedish Kr. you can drive around with the boat until you wish to hop off.
It’s worth your time as you can see the beautiful surroundings of Karlskrona much easier by boat. There are parks where you can get off, a museum and some little villages.
How was your time in Karlskrona?

About Renate Rigters
Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
