Diving in Huatulco
A few days ago we went for two dives in Huatulco, my favorite city in Mexico. Huatulco lays in Oaxaca on the Pacific coast and has plenty of interesting marine life. The water is lovely for snorkeling and great for diving. The visibility that we had was only about 7 to 8 meters, but that gave us no issues as the macro life is beautiful. The water temperature was about 27 degrees and with a maximum depth of 18 meters near the coast. We dove at two dive spots; El Laberinto and Morro Maguey. I liked the second spot better for the thousands of porcupinefish. Those creatures are simply adorable!
Fun dives in Huatulco
Huatulco Dive Center took care of us for these fun dives. They have an excellent operation running. The tanks were already awaiting us in the boat and the gear was selected very quick yet well. The rental equipment seemed rather new and worked well. I did think that the regulator was a bit overly easy on the flow, but that didn’t kill the fun. The guide that joined us was friendly and professional.
There are a few dive centers in Huatulco nowadays and of course it’s hard to make a decision on which one you will go diving with. We based our decision on the social media pages and their website, which looked very much taken care of. I also sent an e-mail to the dive center to see how they’d respond to my questions and also this was a professional and complete answer.

Don’t know who to dive with? Here’s a tip!
Send them an e-mail or call them up to see how they respond. Check the website information and if their page and social media accounts look up-to-date and taken care off. If they take care of their business online they probably also take care of their business on the spot. Even though this is not always the case, it does give a better idea of the company rather than one who has no information online at all or who hasn’t updated their pages.

Wow, THESE pictures are absolutely fabulous, and that porcupine fish is just so freaking adorable! i should really start planning a trip on mexico’s western coast, i have a friend who recently went there and she has been raving about sites such as sea lions colony (https://dive.site/explore/site/sea-lions-colony-36yM). thank you for putting together such a great article on such an inspiring activity!
