Sunshine and bubbles at Terme Merano

After 3 months of snowboarding intensively, and not to forget a bit of too much Après-ski, it was about time for a relax-day in the sun. Bubbles, warm temperatures, healing water and well, a few hot life guards. Those were the words for today at Terme Merano.
Tanning in the snow.
If you have never been to the snow, then the idea of getting a tan in a wintery place probably doesn’t seem the most logic one. However, today it is 19 degrees Celsius, the sun is shining bright while my view is dominated by beautiful mountains covered with snow. Yes, I’m getting a tan and today fortunately it’s not just my face – like it normally is when I’m snowboarding. Today I can lay in the outside pools of Terme Marano and enjoy the sun. This is fabulous!
There is an inside swimming pool too, but I’m more interested in the outside part with this fantastic weather.
The water is hot and I can see the steam rising up above the water. Some pools are hotter or colder than the other and I find it challenging to try and stand the temperature changes when changing pools. From an oooeh to an aaaah I play with the different pools and finally decide to relax at the one where I find myself most comfortable with its temperature. There is also an underwater sofa where bubbles massage my back and in the meanwhile I’m simply facing the sun again. Sometimes I look around to spot one of the handsome lifeguards, but after a while I realise I must have fallen to sleep in the pool as it’s getting late and I can’t spot the same lifeguard as before no more. It’s time I head to the sauna, but outside it’s too lovely. I’ll skip it today knowing I’ll regret that later on. Mama mia, I feel so relaxed today that I could stay here the entire afternoon. And I’m not even the kind of gal that relaxes so much normally. Yep, today is a success. I’m chilled and happy. Thanks for the hot bubbles!

About Renate Rigters
Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
