I know. It was about 10 feet long so not massive but big enough to make you notice. 🙂

No jaguars but we did have a bunch of cayman come into camp, an ocelot, an anaconda, and a capivari. It was a great trip.

Hi Tim, so good to hear you enjoyed it too, even if it’s a while back 🙂 I’d love to read about your Piranha. Mine got cooked later on, so no souvenirs from the Pantanal unfortunately! Well… I did bring back some mosquito bites 😉
Did you spot a Jaguar back then?

I went there in 1988 and have nothing but great memories of my 7 day trek from Cuiaba. Even with howler monkeys throwing poop on me. Like you I swam in a river with piranha. We went fishing for them later and in fact the one I caught I still have. Some kids on the river bank gutted it and covered it in some kind of sap. It sits proudly on my bookshelf and has traveled between Brasil, NZ, Australia, and the US many times. Sometime soon he will be featured in my blog. You are right, not many people go there but was good to hear that some still are. Tim
