Hotspot: Yahooo restaurant in Pipa
My days in Pipa were pretty busy and sometimes I just wished to be at a calm place where I could enjoy the sound of the beach and be able to relax. While I was running on the beach in the morning I noticed a restaurant right beside the beach which looked very cozy and beautiful especially because it was surrounded by nature. I decided to return in the afternoon.
It took me a while before I decided on a place to finally try the typical Moqueca dish from Northeast Brazil, but with my early morning encounter on the beach and also the recommendation from a friend I decided to go the Yahooo restaurant.
They have many things on their menu, but according to my friend this was the place to eat Moqueca. I just had a quick look at the menu, closed it rapidly and decided to order the Moqueca with fish and shrimps as recommended.
After about 8 minutes a friendly waiter showed up with a wooden plate holding three cooking pots containing white rice, the typical farofa and fish with shrimps soup.
In Brazil it is typical to have dishes for two persons and this also goes for the Yahooo bar. The Moqueca is a dish for two, but luckily I love food and I’ve even been told that I eat like a construction worker… so, I was happy to finish the delicious Moqueca by myself 😉 For only 50 Brazilian Real you can order the Moqueca for two, which normally would cost twice as much at any other restaurant.
Even for those who are not the biggest fans of eating fish, you will like this meal! I am not the kind of person who would order fish in a restaurant, but today I was amazed with the taste of the seafood.
After eating so much I do always get a bit of an after-dinner-dip so a cup of coffee would be perfect after a meal like the one I just tasted. Yahooo bar has plenty of coffee in store. However, they have no coffee with milk or anything like that on the menu and you can only order a black coffee. Since Brazil is famous for its coffee I would highly recommend you to try theirs even if you normally drink coffee with milk.
If you are near Pipa having a holiday or maybe even just visiting a friend than you should not leave without visiting the Yahooo bar and trying out their fabulous Moqueca. Just walk on the Chapadao beach towards Barra de Cunhaú and look for the red with yellow sign by the road or the logo expressing the “yahooo-feeling”. You will love it for sure.
About Renate Rigters
Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
