Hey you, what’s for breakfast?
A healthy early morning breakfast can give you energy and even while a lot of people rush out the door in the morning without having anything to eat, know that skipping breakfast can make you more hungry during the rest of the day.
Personally, I cannot start the day without eating any food. If I don’t have any breakfast I will collapse after walking a bit or standing up too long. You can imagine that when I’m traveling I always have to carry some energy bars with me. Just in case I can’t find any breakfast.
I have also always been a big eater and even while every single person always asks me how I can eat this much and still remain in good shape I believe the answer is very simple: breakfast.
Good for energy
I am a big believer of breakfast and we all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I feel that when I don’t eat something in the morning I will not get my battery charged for the rest of the day. It doesn’t really make a difference if I have to sit behind my computer all day or do loads of work outs. I will need energy and eating something in the morning gives me the power I need for the rest of the day.
Quick and easy
I love to eat a big breakfast. Eggs, bacon, all the heavy stuff, you name it. English style. However, it’s not the healthiest kind of brekkie and therefore I’m having more granola breakfasts nowadays. Eggs are good though, but just more than one a day. Some Greek yoghurt or Quark with Granola tastes best when you add some blueberries or pomegranate seeds and last but not least, some honey.
Greek yoghurt is good because it’s loaded with calcium and protein and that’s why it makes you feel full throughout the entire morning, leaving you with less desire for a morning snack. Granola (known as Cruesli in the Netherlands) is good for all-day energy. Blueberries are also known as super fruits these days. They are low in calories and good for the blood pressure.
A cup of tea?
I love coffee, but did you know that tea actually hydrates you more effectively than coffee? It’s said that green tea might be the healthiest of all teas, but I simply love the taste. Especially my recent discovery: the Pickwick Green Tea Coconut!

About Renate Rigters
Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
