Discuss your dreamjourney with a Travel Counsellor
For years I have been dreaming about a journey to South America. Climbing the Andes, experiencing the gauchos atmosphere at the pampas, celebrating carnival in Rio and looking for the borders in Patagonia.
My wanderlust
About a month ago I booked a ticket to Buenos Aires, one way in January, to explore the continent starting there. My journey will begin in Argentina because I have been dreaming about Patagonia for years, but I still do not know what I definitely can not miss when visiting the magnificent scenes, and how I should organize for the trip. There are plenty of books to be found about, but sometimes you are missing the woods for the trees.
Where do I need to go to? How many days should I spend there?
Someone I was looking for
I needed someone who could help me with a start for this trip. Someone who comes to your home with travel guides and a map, you know, some kind of trip advisor? Through an acquaintance I heard about Travel Counsellors, who can arrange a customized trip for you with their so called building blocks. On the internet I started looking for a Travel Counsellor in the neighbourhood and so I found Will Therèse van Roosmalen. After my brief explanation about my dream trip to Patagonia we made an appointment by email and shortly afterwards we were discussing my plans at the table at my place.

Will Therèse told me which places I can not miss, such as El Calafate and the Perrito Moreno Glacier. She confirmed me that traveling by myself by bus from Buenos Aires to Patagonia will be a piece of cake and from there on I can use the tours and trips that she can create for me.
A good travel consultant
I work in the tourism industry, so I will recognize a good trip advisor immediately. Believe me, Will Therèse is one of them! Ten years ago she started a course at the University of Applied Science Tio next to her former job in the intensive care, because she still wanted to enter the travel industry after all. I admire her determination to follow her dreams! She does her work with a lot of passion for travel and interest in her customers. She is specialized in Scandinavian destinations and cruises, but a trip to Disneyland Paris or South America is also something you can contact her for.
An added value
What does is actually cost to get a customized trip from a Travel Counsellor? That question popped up in to my head at the end of our conversation. I will not cost you anything more than when you want to book at a travel agency just around the corner, that is where it all comes down to.
I told her about my passion for discovering new cultures and that I would like to stay at the homes of locals during the trip. Will Therèse knows many people in Argentina and has personal contact with a local touroperator, so I am confident that this will succeed!
Arranging wonderful holidays – a job for you?
I have already made many plans for the future, but otherwise a job as a Travel Counsellor perhaps would have been interesting for me. Mapping dreams of people, customizing trips, having an office at home and visiting people at their homes to provide them with a personal travel counseling – that must be a very nice and especially challenging job!
