Blacks & Explore: an epic adventure
Today I was asked by Blacks and Explore for a competition to showcase my personal favorites within my own photography in the following categories: wild, fast, panoramic, and epic.
Here is my pick. Enjoy!
Wild
Monkeys just want to have fun
As I am walking through the jungle in Bonito I hear some noise in the trees. When I look up I notice something is falling down. It’s a cute little monkey. I look around to find many monkeys staring at me. One is swinging on a branch and it seems he is having fun. He actually smiles at me. Adorable and yet wild.
Fast
Flipper has speed
Early in the morning my boat trip left from Parque Marino Ballena. The dolphins were awaiting us it appeared as they showed up when we turned off the engine of the boat. Most of them just showed us their fin, but some jumped through the water with high speed. I was lucky enough to catch one of them in action with my camera. Thank you Flipper for the great pose.
Panoramic
The colors of salt
In the afternoon the salt flats of Uyuni are all white and greyish. No other color can be found. However, I waited for the sunset and got a spectacular 360 degrees view of the Salar changing from one color to another. Beautiful panoramic.
Epic
Sleeping on the 8th wonder of the world
At 4 am the other happy campers woke me up for the hike in the dark to reach the Torres del Paine before sunrise. How I hated them right then! I dragged my sleeping bag along for the cold weather as it was actually snowing and slept some more on top of the Torres while my friends took photos of the sunrise peeking out behind the mountains. I loved my friends again about one hour later when the sun started to officially rise. Good morning at the 8th wonder of the world.Truly epic.

About Renate Rigters
Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
