Big hotels in Malta
During my stay in Malta a few weeks ago I was invited at the Corinthia and AX hotels. I want to share my opinion on the big hotels in Malta with you so that it might get easier to choose one for your stay at this Mediterranean island.
I saw a lot of boutique hotels and resorts. Big hotels are normally simply too huge for me and staff treats you everyday as if you just arrived, again… so, it takes a good one to convince me that a big hotel can be nice.
Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay – Marina Hotel Beach Resort
But fortunately these hotels did not give me the feeling to take off after breakfast and search for a beach. They gave me the feeling as if I was walking in a little town with a really luxurious villa and I could walk to the kind neighbor villa within 5 minutes. I am not sure if I am making sense to you right now, but for me this is very positive! A hotel that gives me the feeling like home. Thank you David for showing me this pearl of Malta.
Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay is connected to the Marina Hotel Corinthia Beach Resort. These two hotels make a ideal combination for your holiday. At one for example you can find a big Spa and the other has a lovely beach. Just walk 5 minutes and you are at the neighbor hotel where you can use the facilities for free of course.
The buffet at the St George’s Bay is excellent. I had diner there and enjoyed the variety of things you could choose from at the buffet. From Mexican wraps to Maltese treats or Asian food, everything was delicious. The desserts were my favorite, though!
The Palace

The Palace Hotel has its own rock-star hotel room with percussion and an infinity pool
I paid a visit to the Palace Hotel, where manager Franklin took his time to show me this beautiful hotel of which he was very proud to work for. And he should be! With the amazing view their infinity pool has and the amazing rooms where the Hollywood stars want to spend the night. The Palace hotel has big beds, which was very important to me because I am a tall Dutchie! The bathrooms are quit spacious and the decoration of the rooms is very modern.
I would like to spend a night at The Music Suite: completely decorated with a musical theme and state-of-the-art sound systems. Also part of the decor are the fully functional instruments. Cool! I would be jamming all night! This suite even has sound-proof walls like a recording studio, so you will not even disturb your neighbors 😉
The Victoria Hotel
I stayed at the Victoria Hotel for two nights, which is a boutique hotel. The receptionists were very kind and they made my check-in go very quickly. The room I got had a lovely bed, I slept really good!
What a woman often looks for after they have had a shower in the hotel room is a hairdryer. So, that goes for me as well. It never takes me too long to find it, and at The Victoria Hotel I did not even have to search. There is a hairdryer attached to the wall – I guess many hotels do that just in case so that us women can not pack the hairdryer in our suitcase on the check-out day. Anyhow, I find it important that the hairdryer has a lot of potential. Power! Just for the details, I decided to dry my hair that night by the warm air on the streets of Malta.
My feet enjoyed the carpet in the hotel room and the sunlight which entered the room in the morning made it easier for me to wake up in the early morning. Very handy, since I can enjoy sleeping till late in the morning too much 😉
About Renate Rigters
Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
