Hostel review Azul y Blanco in Mexico
It’s time for a Mezcalito in the village of Huatulco with Azul y Blanco Hostel… a brand new hostel at the heart of downtown Huatulco. Besides a good night’s sleep due to the new and amazingly comfortable mattresses the hostel also seems to have the most friendly staff that gives you the feeling you’re staying in a Mexican home.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a foreigner or a Mexican, this hostel feels like home. I noticed this feeling with other guests I met during my stay who were from the United States, France and Mexico.
Just a two minutes walk away is ‘El Madero’ where the locals take the cheap shared taxis which makes it basically the central station for short taxi rides. At the same place you can find the local cinema and also a pharmacy called Doctor Simi (a somehow quite popular brand). Food can be found at nearly every corner of the street, but the hostel also frequently asks its guests if you’d like to order some food to be delivered as this is what the staff does a lot too. Huatulco has many different kinds of restaurants and for example, even Sushi is on the list. Have a meal with the receptionist and enjoy some local stories.
If you do not know what ‘Azul y Blanco’ is, it’s the Spanish translation for blue and white which are the colors used in the Mexican pottery. The owner’s mother has a shop for this ‘azulejos’ pottery and since family is very important in the Mexican culture the owner of the Azul y Blanco, Maggie, decided to name her hostel after her mom’s passion.
5 good reasons why you should stay here
#5 Great value (Orthopedic Mattresses!) for a low budget.
#4 Free Wi-Fi in the entire hostel
#3 Great ambiance with local and international guests + staff
#2 The place gets cleaned every single day – and we love clean hostels
#1 Located in the heart of downtown Huatulco
Azul y Blanco can be found in La Crucecita at Colorin 114, Sector H, which is in front of a launderette and two streets away from the main square of Huatulco.
About Renate Rigters
Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
