Festival vibes at Bank Fashion

My friend Jules and I at 7th Sunday
Festivals. Don’t you just love this word? I remember my first festival ever very well. I was staying in Jamaica for a holiday with my folks and the Jamaican Reggae Sunsplash festival was about to start. I was sixteen, had to much hormones for my parents to handle and just wanted to dance and party. Moooom, daaaad! I want to go! Guess what. They had to come with me due to me still being only sixteen by then. But hey, we actually did go and it was great. Seeing people like Mr. Vegas, Elephant man, Cecilia and many other great Dancehall and Reggae artists performing live in Jamaica was a great experience. From there of I wanted more.
We want more
To be quite frank, I did not get the chance up until recently to visit another festival after the Jamaican experience. Two years ago I moved back to the Netherlands after living in Spain for some years. Last year was my first summer since many years in The Netherlands and it was time for me to join the parties back home and show up at the festivals.
LakeDance, 7th Sunday, Wish… This rings any bells? Probably they do if you’ve ever partied in my beautiful Southern province called Brabant (where we talk a lot more charming then up in Amsterdam since we pronounce a different letter “g”…).

Wardrobe-crisis
At the moment I am in Panama, still trying to figure out when my next festival will be and, highly important, what I am going to wear! It’s going to be a wardrobe-crisis since I’m living out of my backpack right now! I’d love to get some bohemian clothes. Feathers, shirts with open shoulders and hippie images on it, cute sandals, a skirt or dress with an Aztec print. If I’d be a designer, those things would be on my drawing table, but for now I would just be happy to be able to wear them myself 🙂
I hope soon I will get the chance to party with my friends at an outdoor festival again where the sun in shining, the drinks are de-li-cious, the music loud and lots of cool people around.

I created this story because of the Bank Fashion #destinationunknown competition as I just got a message about it and find the price – being the Bank Fashion Festival insider – pretty awesome!
For you to get in the festival mood already… here’s one of my favorite festival songs!
About Renate Rigters
Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
