It’s Pipa-Party time

I’m – Will – Never – Drink – Again. Ever heard me say that before? Well okay, probably yes. But, this time I might be serious about it. It’s as if I woke up this morning holding one of those delicious Caipirinhas in my hand. Or was it a Caipiroska? I’m still confused. The samba beat from the boate is still in my head. I look at my iPhone to see the time and realize it is already 10 in the morning. Oh. ow. I ordered breakfast to be served at La Mansion at 8…

The evening starts in one of the other mansions here at Domus Pipa, where a group of friends from France spend their holiday. They brought the things every French person is obligated to bring to their holiday destination: Champagne, vins and le crackers.

It’s Caipirinha O’clock

After two bottles of champagne we decide to go out for food. “Renate, do you prefer meat or fish?” they ask me. “Meat! Definitely meat!” I’m such a carnivore. We decide to go to Rancho da Pipa (Rua José Agnaldo, 47). A good place to go to when you’re in for a lot of meat on your plate. With some Brazilian farofa, salad, beans, a lot of meat and not to forget le French fries, we eat until our bellies are full. A necessary thing to have before going for all the Caipirinhas we had in mind. My new friend from France kept on saying “I can hear the Caipirinhas calling out for me. I think it’s Caipirinha O’clock!” while we indeed felt called toward the bar street.

Macarena

At two blocks away from the restaurant you can find the Pipa bar street where everything happens on the street. I have heard some surfers the other day bragging about their awesome parties at Tribus so that seemed to be the place to be. We arranged a table at the Tribus bar and started of with some coffees against the fatigue followed by… drumroll please… a whole lot of Caipirinhas! The drinks were good and so was the vibe at Tribus. Many people were very conversational and so a lot of new faces turned into new friends. The music played at Tribus though was overwhelmed by the music of the bar neighbors who played much better music anyway. For some reason Tribus plays too many of those choreographic songs reminding me of ‘La Macarena’. Still, the vibe at Tribus was pretty good!

The Brazilian Boate

After a couple of hours it’s time head to a new place. Let’s go to a boate (Portuguese word for a club)! Pipa is a rather small village and everything is quite close-by. So is our new party destination for tonight: boate dos Calangos. After some more Caipirinhas – how I love cachaça! – and burning a lot of calories by dancing until we couldn’t stand the heat anymore we decided it was time to go home. The bad thing was that we got into town by car and normally, even after the loss of so many braincells, in Brazil you still drive back home. That would definitely not be an option in Europe!

Time for a last dip into the swimming pool to cool down and head to bed. Night, night all.

About Renate Rigters

Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
