My 5 favorite things to do in Pipa
There is a place in Brazil, on the North-East side of the country, that you should not skip while visiting this Latin-American pearl named Brazil!
Pipa is a little fisherman’s town, a surfers paradise, a magical place with really all you need for a Brazilian holiday.
Here are my 5 favorite things to do in Pipa.
1. Do the Buggy Uggy
Probably one of the most fun things you can do is to go with one of the open buggy tours where a guide-driver will take you across the beach, the sand dunes and the cool little towns to see a bit more of the area. The tour starts in the morning in Pipa and goes all the way southwards to Rio Gauju. Ask any hotel recepcion for Marcão and Buggy Uggy and enjoy!
2. Gastronomical boat tour
The best place to try sea food would be by the sea. Right? So, a boat cruise with seafood would be perfect! Pipa offers a gastronomical boat tour which leaves in the morning to show you the dolphins, lets you go for a swim in the ocean and you can see a bunch of crabs walking around while the staff prepares your fabulous seafood lunch!
it’s a great way to get to meet the local people of Pipa and to try their traditional ways of eating seafood. Trust me, even if you’re not a big adventurer and don’t like to try out to many tropical food, you’ll love this!
3. Horse riding
If you do like horses, then this is another thing to put on your to-do list for Pipa. The great looking horses of the Haras Água Boa farm made my day when I decided to go for a ride and discovered the country side of Pipa.
You can go for an one-hour ride, or for two, or for even three hours. A guide will come along, but you can basically do your own thing and he will just lead you the way through the farmer landscapes.
4. Go for the waves
Do you like surfing? How about surfing waves , which are created by a powerboat and experience something entirely new in the surf-world?
Wake’nFun offers a lot of water sports activities in Barra de Cunhaú, located 20 minutes away from Pipa. From surfing the boat’s waves to wake boarding, you can enjoy yourself in the water with many kinds of sports. I loved the wake boarding and even while I thought I wasn’t able to do it, I pulled it off! Now it’s your turn.
5. Gaze at the sunset
A good sunset photo can be pretty difficult, especially if the Caipirinhas have been passing your sight the last couple of afternoon hours. Therefor, go to a sunset bar! There are two you could go to.
One is the Mirante de Pipa, which is located in the center of town on a mountain and over there you’ll have a great view at the sunset glowing over the beach. You can order food and drinks and enjoy yourself over there the rest of the evening too.
Your second option is the Mirante at Tibau do Sul. It will take you about twenty minutes / half an hour to get there from Pipa, but it’s totally worth it.
Where to stay?
Get yourself a fabulous villa at the Domus Condominio near the Chapadao beach.
It’s not for your average backpackers budget, but it’s pretty much an amazing place to stay at. With lovely bedrooms and the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in, a jacuzzi on the balcony and a swimming pool right next the door, I can say that this is luxury and style which you deserve after sleeping at hostel dorms for many, many months. If you’d like some info on a possible stay just visit the website of Domus and send an e-mail which you can address to Fabia (pipadomus@gmail.com).
I loved this place so much that I ended up spending about two weeks in Pipa at the Domus villa – which I prefer to name “La Mansion” – and I still want to go back!
About Renate Rigters
Ever since I left my home country I felt at home at any other place I went to. I enjoy getting to know more cultures by talking to strangers and hearing their philosophy about life. Speaking with gestures when you can not find a shared language, finding places only the locals go to and learn about their customs and values. Hanging out with local people makes me happy. The experience of every new place is a step out of your comfort zone where I like to wander around until it feels like a second home.
