Diving in Huatulco

A few days ago we went for two dives in Huatulco, my favorite city in Mexico. Huatulco lays in Oaxaca on the Pacific coast and has plenty of interesting marine life. The water is lovely for snorkeling and great for diving. The visibility that we had was only about 7 to 8 meters, but that gave us no issues as the macro life is beautiful. The water temperature was about 27 degrees and with a maximum depth of 18 meters near the coast. We dove at two dive spots; El Laberinto and Morro Maguey. I liked the second spot better for the thousands of porcupinefish. Those creatures are simply adorable!

Diving with bull sharks – a good or a bad thing

Bull sharks cruise the shallow, warm waters of the world and have a bad reputation. A few years ago even I was worried about encountering such a predator in the tropical shorelines during a swim. However, I’ve become intrigued by the bull shark and the many other magnificent sharks. I’d like to meet them.

Disappointment and sandy days

Just another day in paradise, or so it seems. We have been spending the last weeks or even months in Mexico’s dazzling city of Playa del Carmen. Basically relaxing and just waiting for our IDC (PADI’s Instructor Development Course) to start. Yesterday we got some bad news though and now it seems we might need to leave the pretty Yucatan Peninsula.
