It’s weekend and that means I get to do some sightseeing with my boyfriend’s family. Today we’re driving up to Kalmar to cross the bridge to the island called Öland. That is if the weather allows us to do so. We tried yesterday, but it was way to foggy in the entire area. Today it seems like it might be a great day for seeing some beautiful landscapes and taking pictures out on this island in the Baltic Sea. It’s cloudy and the wind is blowing, but the sun is peeking through the clouds. ...read more!
Utö is one of the largest islands in the southern Stockholm archipelago (which I wrote about before), with an exciting and interesting history, which began during the early mining days around 1100. You can stay at the comfortable Utö Vardhus Hotel if you’re interested in exploring the island and its surroundings like the island of Huvudskär, but it’s also a great chance to stay at a cute little house on the beach. It will feel as if you own the island while you’re on your own little private beach! The entire area is great for adventurous activities like kayaking, biking and hiking, which I refer to like playing outside for grownups. …read more!
Yesterday I posted a blog on 7 reasons why not to date an Italian and I was asked to do the same about the Swedes. Now I don’t mean the vegetable, but the nationality. As my Swedish friend has published a similar kind of Facebook post today about why not to date Dutch girls, may you be the judge and say which nationality is worse! So here they come, inspired by my Swedish friend Jonas, enjoy!
ÖTILLÖ is a Swimrun in Sweden and according to CNN it is ranked as one of the toughest endurance races in the world! Teams of two persons swim and run 75 kilometers within the surroundings of 26 islands in the Stockholm archipelago. The race starts in the island Sandhamn and ends in Utö. With its unique environment and the entire mindset of the organization I got intrigued. I asked Michael Lemmel, the founder of Swimrun and Race Director of ÖTILLÖ, some questions about the entire happening. ...read more!
Did you know that close by the big city of Stockholm you can find a bunch of pretty little islands? With actual beaches? And not just little pieces of land, but actual isles you can live on or simply spend the entire day at. Some of the islands still haven’t been entirely discovered, since there are so many of them… ...read more!
It always gives me an exciting feeling. Choosing the clothes I will wear and an extra pair in case I get wet or simply really dirty, finding a tent that will work, some gear for in the wild and then packing it all into my bag. It’s a happy campers feeling I get while preparing myself for a new adventure and once I reach my camping spot I totally feel like a wild and happy hippie. ...read more!
In September 2014 I got invited to the Stockholm Archipelago by the Outdoor Academy of Sweden and once again I brought my DSLR camera and my GoPro to capture the entire travel story. Hiking, kayaking, camping, cycling, making campfire, some good food and moments on the ocean – all wrapped up in just under 3 minutes. Enjoy the being outdoors!
Two weeks ago I was invited to Sweden at the Stockholm Archipelago and together with a lot of sportive outdoor activities also plenty of Swedish culture had to be experienced. Part of this is the traditional crayfish partying after a hot sauna with a beer.
After yet another amazing and especially adventurous outdoor trip to Sweden I have got plenty to tell and share with all of you. This time I went to the Stockholm Archipelago, a lovely bunch of islands near Stockholm where you can find yourself in pure nature with the possibility to go for loads of sportive activities that will make you connect even more with the Swedish mother nature. However, a couple of things I really wish to share are perhaps a bit of the record… And so this means we cannot really discuss it face to face, but I can absolutely write about it and you can comment below to continue the gossip or solve the mystery 😉
Have you ever heard about Elky Elkwood? Elky is a very loving Elk from Sweden, who is currently working as an intern for Nature Travels – UK specialists for Outdoor Experiences in Sweden. However, he doesn’t seem to work that much, since we find him plenty of times holding a beer or trying to charm the girls from around the world. Every year That Wanderlust finds him in Sweden and this year, as he was traveling through Sweden again, we met at the Stockholm Archipelago. Our charmer tried to impress the international girls at the harbor of Utö, but ended up getting cozy with quite a few at the Storastrand…
I got invited by the ambassador of Sweden, Mr. Håkon Emsgårdo, to come to the embassy in Den Hague and learn about the local outdoor and especially culinary highlights from the Swedish region Jämtland Härjedalen. I would not miss a chance to try Scandinavian food and drinks. Yummy!
After a short presentation about the region and its activities, such as downhill biking and skiing, the buffet was opened and we could all try the delicious Swedish treats.
All kinds of local drinks, such as the St. Johns beer, Birch wine and Lingonberry nectar
Last week verkeersbureaus.info sent me to Sweden for the Outdoor Academy in Dalarna and we had a pretty awesome time there. Everybody had a lot of fun and we saw so many things of the region.
But… there are always some stories that you would prefer to keep inside the academy.
Fortunately for you, I decided to share a few of those stories, but you need to help me out with my puzzle of who belongs to which story.
Here are my top 10 stories we could not tell from #oas 2013!
