A little hidden paradise for surfers, while it is also the best place to go to if you want to access the island of Coiba for its great dive spots and beautiful flora and fauna.
Dear Bikini, it’s time we have a talk.
As I am standing on top of one of the ski pistes of the Dolomiti, in the Italian Alps, I realize how happy this really makes me. Being here, with mother nature, snow & sunshine, fresh air, outdoor sports, new surroundings and new people, all providing happiness. However, it’s something I find intriguing as I can’t get this feeling of happiness that easy at home. I started wondering why.
I love to travel and especially to go to those exotic places where the weather is warm, the beaches are beautiful and the people live happily. I’ve always wanted to go to Fuerteventura, but never had the chance! Until Planet Surf Camp invited me to join them for a week, and of course I didn’t have to think very long about accepting the invite! I started searching for a flight and found one that takes 4,5 hours from Weeze Airport in Germany. Bingo! Let’s do this, Fuerteventura here I come!
Such an exciting day! Today I’m going to the reef. I totally hated it the other day when I had to walk into the sea at another beach with the rocks beneath my feet and I got pretty much scared of the idea of surfing on the reef due to my previous reef experiences. However, I wanted to give it another try and so I decided that today would be my reef surfing adventure!
It’s Tuesday morning and I got the chance to wake up without my alarm clock set today. Eventually I wake up at about 8am and go straight for breakfast. Two Austrian girls, Kathi and Elisabeth, who are also at the surf house, wake up at around the same time and we decide to hit to streets together after we eat our cereals. One of the girls rented a surf-skate board and it’s super fun to see how this kind of skateboarding works. It looks like a kind of surfing on the street, but on a smaller board. I give it a try and actually it’s a whole lot easier than I thought. I enjoy kicking the street with my right foot and steering with it while on the board.
A week of fun, love and surf at Planet Surf Fuerteventura!
Music: The Drums – Let’s go surfing
After a surf movie night with the rest of the surfers, here at the surf house in Corralejo, I went to bed having the tubes in my head. With tubes I mean those beautiful curls of the sea where one can surf on the inside of the wave. Today we are going to explore the Flag Beach which is also known as surf spot La Entubadera… And having this nickname I am looking forward to seeing some amazing surfers riding the tubes.
It’s Saturday night, which is normally the typical party night for the Dutch and well probably most people. This Saturday one of my best friends is celebrating his birthday, so instead of hitting the club we’re having fun with the friends at the birthday-boy’s home. Unfortunately for me I can’t be partying tonight like the rest, since I have to stay awake for that god-forsaking hour when it’s time for me to drive towards the airport; supposedly that’s at 3am. I have a flight to catch to the beautiful Canary island of Fuerteventura! Not to bad actually hey?
The Peruvian capital
If you have ever been to Peru the chances are big you’ve been to Lima; Peru’s seaside Capital. Lima is a sparkling city with a beach, plenty of shopping malls, fancy restaurants and also a great historic center.
It’s an interesting city with plenty of amusement and enough attractions for those who have time to add Lima to their itinerary. However, the question remains: where do I need to go to if I only have a couple of hours to spend in Lima ?
I am not sure if I can describe the way I am feeling today, but I would like to give it a try.
I notice butterflies or maybe even quite a seagull in my stomach, a constant desire of wanting to taste the salty water and feeling the fresh sea-breeze blowing through my hair. The birds making a lot of noise seem to entertain me and the Spanish words “mi amor” with a strong R roll gently over my tongue while I approach my friends and feel the love in the air. The kisses and hugs of my amiguitos truly make my day and I feel a deep connection with the Oaxaqueños. This might sound like some kind of love letter, and you might think I am going crazy for a tropical ambiance, but really, I have been having this feeling for over 2 years now and it has not gone away. I love this place.
There is a place in Brazil, on the North-East side of the country, that you should not skip while visiting this Latin-American pearl named Brazil!
Pipa is a little fisherman’s town, a surfers paradise, a magical place with really all you need for a Brazilian holiday.
Nicaragua is one of those places that still has not been visited by all your friends and family. A great country for backpackers due to the cheap prices of public transport, local food and beers, but mainly a beautiful place to visit because it is such an adventurous destination with great surroundings and very friendly people.
There are plenty of things to do in Nicaragua that can keep you busy during a visit, but the great part of it is that over here you can still get of the beaten track and go with the flow of the locals.
Prepare yourself to eating a lot of rice and beans, getting whistled at non-stop if you’re a woman, seeing many beautiful birds anywhere you go, going out to party for six dollars all night, taking chicken-buses, seeing smoking volcanoes in the background and amazing surf beaches you just can’t get enough off. Here is a top 5 of things I loved doing in Nicaragua.
Let try surfing some Costa Rican waves, shall we?
